New Podcast Launches: Om-gnosis Explores the Mysteries of Occult South Asia
The Center is excited to announce the launch of its groundbreaking new podcast, Om-gnosis, dedicated to the study of Occult South Asia. This innovative series aims to uncover the rich tapestry of hidden knowledge and practices rooted in South Asian traditions, including yoga, Hindu and Buddhist tantra, and Islamic esotericism.
The title Om-gnosis reflects a fusion of ancient and modern wisdom: “Om,” a sacred syllable from the Vedas representing creation and existence, and “gnosis,” linked to the Sanskrit term jñāna, signifying knowledge and spiritual insight. Together, they invite listeners to delve into the complex intercultural exchanges that shape the occult landscape.
Hosted by CSWR Postdoctoral Fellow Keith Cantú, the podcast will critically examine various beliefs, rituals, and historical contexts, welcoming participants from all backgrounds. By fostering inclusive dialogue, Om-gnosis seeks to illuminate the multifaceted nature of South Asian occult practices and their global influences.
