Jeffrey S. Cramer is the author of *Solid Seasons**;** **:** The Friendship of Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson* (Counterpoint, 2019); and editor of *Walden: A Fully Annotated Edition* (Yale University Press, 2004); *The Quotable Thoreau* (Princeton University Press, 2011); *I to Myself: An Annotated Selection from the Journal of Henry D. Thoreau* (Yale University Press, 2007); *The Portable Thoreau* (Penguin, 2012)**;** **;** *The Portable Emerson* (Penguin, 2014); among others. His *Resistance in the Manner of Thoreau*, in collaboration with visual artist Amos Paul Kennedy Jr., will be published by The Press of the Varying Hare in 2026.

In 2017 he was the historical consultant for the Ken Burns-produced documentary, *Walden*, created for the Walden Pond State Reservation during the Thoreau Bicentennial. Jeff recently retired as Curator of Collections for The Walden Woods Project after 25 years.
