What counts as philosophy—and who gets to be recognized as a philosopher? In conversation with *Gnoseologies* host Giovanna Parmigiani, Tim Rudbøg explores Helena Petrovna Blavatsky’s engagement with major philosophical questions of being, consciousness, space, and time. Through close textual analysis, he places her work in dialogue with thinkers such as Kant, Fichte, Hegel, and Spencer, arguing that Blavatsky should be taken seriously as a philosopher, even as her work exceeds conventional categories.

Tim Rudbøg is Associate Professor in the Study of Religions at the University of Copenhagen, where he also serves as Head of Education and directs the Copenhagen Centre for the Study of Theosophy and Esotericism. He has published widely on esotericism and religion, including several recent co-edited volumes with Oxford University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, and Brill.
