# Audio: Subversive Spiritualities—How Rituals Enact the World

April 10, 2012

On March 20, Frédérique Apffel-Marglin, Professor Emerita of Anthropology at Smith College, spoke about her latest book, *Subversive Spiritualities: How Rituals Enact the World.* This talk was part of the "African, Diasporic, and Indigenous Religions in Conversation" series at the Center for the Study of World Religions at HDS.

The book draws on a lifetime of work with the indigenous peoples of Peru and India to support her argument that the beliefs, values, and practices of such peoples hold keys to 're-entangling' humans with nature and rekindling community amongst humans as well as between humans and the other-than-human world.
